I’m Stephanie, the maker behind Willow & Wren Needlework Finishing. I’ve been sewing since I was eight years old, when my mom first taught me to sew. She taught me so much of what I know and nurtured a love of sewing and creating that has stayed with me throughout my life.

My mom passed away 15 years ago, and today, sewing feels like one of the ways I carry a little piece of her forward. Every time I sit down at my sewing machine, choose just the right fabric, or fuss over the tiniest finishing detail, I’m continuing something she started with me all those years ago. Willow & Wren is, in many ways, part of her legacy too.

My sewing experience now spans more than five decades and includes garment sewing, quilting, hand appliqué and embroidery, bag making, home décor, window treatments, slipcovers, upholstery, and other sewing techniques. I especially enjoy the small details and careful construction that turn something handmade into something truly special.

For ten years, my husband, Kevin, and I also ran an Etsy business together, giving us years of experience creating handmade items for customers, carefully packaging orders, and getting them safely on their way to their new homes.

Before starting W&W, I spent 39 years a registered nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital Children’s Center primarily in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Nursing and sewing may seem like very different worlds, but they have more in common than you might think-both require patience, precision, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to caring for something entrusted to you.

After retiring from nursing in June 2026, I finally had the opportunity to devote more time to the creative work I’ve loved for most of my life. Willow & Wren grew from that next chapter and from my desire to help fellow stitchers turn their completed needlework into pieces they can display, give, and cherish.

And then there’s Kevin…

W&W may have my hands at the sewing machine, but it is very much a team effort. My husband, Kevin, works behind the scenes helping with packaging, shipping, supply runs, and all the little things that keep everything moving.

Together we understand that when you send us your needlework, you’re trusting us with something that may represent hours-or even months-of your own work. We don’t take that lightly!

Every piece that comes to Willow & Wren will be handled with care and thoughtfully finished with attention to craftsmanship, proportion, fabric, trim, and the small details that make the finished piece feel just right.
